- Maintain knowledge of current governing regulations, codes and practices, and inform Management whenever revisions to the Corporate Healthy, Safety & Environment program are required and implement and communicate revisions.
- Development and implementation of practical hazard management programs.
- Conduct HSE audits and facilitate implementation of corrective actions as required.
- Lead all accident investigations and reviews of all occurrences such as accidents, incidents, health exposures, disabling injuries and fatalities, and produce investigation reports for circulation to the required authorities and responsible parties, where required.
- Schedule, conduct/ attend office, lab, and project sites Health & Safety meetings, participate in meetings, raise comments on safety practices and office hazards, and communicate lessons learned from accident investigations.
- Develop, Implement and maintain an Emergency Response Plans including training programs
- Assist with first-aid activities and emergencies.
- Ensure that all safety, first aid, medical and fire-fighting equipment are well maintained, and are in accordance with legislated and working requirements.
- Prepare and file all HSE reports including following and submit to the management as and when required:
-Monthly Safety Report on previous month's activities.
-Accident and incident report as required and issue to Management within stipulated time, of learning of the accident.
-Prepare corporate monthly safety statistical report. Where medical aid and lost time reports have not been received from project sites, follow up on and obtain the outstanding incident reports.
-Maintain logs for HSE activities.
- Ensure that projects have a HSE program in place that is in accordance with the corporate and client requirements, as well as with all applicable local laws and regulations.
- Assist with claims management when required to meet the necessary Workplace Safety and Insurance Board requirements.
- Work with outside vendors and purchasing to obtain health and safety produces and services.

Qualification

- College or University Degree in Occupational H&S, Science or Hygeine, and/or related, practical experience.
- Five or more years of progressive Health & Safety supervisory experience in a medium or large-size industrial or professional services environment.
- Experience of oil sands and process industry would be a definite plus.
- Solid understanding of Health & Safety management and its connection to business strategy. Superior organisational, presentation, communications, and interpersonal skills are essential.
- Incumbents must have the ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing.
- Working knowledge of MS Office applications including spreadsheet and word-processing software is required (ie. Word, Excel, Outlook, Windows).
